Search attachments in gmail easily
I would share one hidden hack in gmail.Suppose you want to open an email that was sent to you by some person (name not known) and you only remember that he sent you a ppt ,then instead of spending time to look emails individually you can do it in few seconds. I receive a lot of email attachments (txt, doc, pdf, ppt, swf, zip, rar etc) into my gmail account but how to sort out files by file type?
Gmail do provide an option to do so but the hack is hidden. You can sort the file types by using the Gmail Search Mail. Follow simple steps to do so.
Step 1 : Type in Gmail Search Box “ has:attachment” (without quotes) following with your file format say pdf or ppt. If you are looking for ppt file, your search command will be.
has:attachment ppt
Step 2 : Hit enter.Your inbox will show the emails having ppt as an attachment.
So instead of spending hours to search for the file this simple trick can be useful to you.

This is not true. What this search does is find emails with an attachment, and with the word ppt on it. But not on the file name, but on the whole email text.
So it can find an email that has a jpg attachment, with the word ppt somewhere on the email body or subject.
There is no real way to search for any text only on the attachment name. - At October 25, 2009 at 6:17 AM, evaimitico said...
